Window Shade Care Guide

Window shades are not only for controlling the amount of light and privacy in your home, but they also play a significant role in your home’s aesthetics. To ensure that your window shades stay in excellent condition and maintain their visual appeal, regular care and cleaning are essential. Our window shade care guide includes maintenance tips that will help your shades remain in good shape for years to come.

To ensure that regular care and cleaning is enough, make sure to properly clean the mounting surface beforehand. This will extend the lifespan of the shade.

Dusting

A simple way to maintain your paper or fabric shades is by regularly dusting them. Use a feather duster or dry cloth to gently remove loose dust and dirt from the surface of the shades. Start from the top and work your way down.

You can also utilize canned air to blow off dust from the shade, we only recommend this tip for our fabric shades.

Vacuuming

Another option is to lightly vacuum your shades by setting your vacuum cleaner to the lowest setting and using a soft brush attachment to pick up any dirt. Again, start at the top and work your way down, making sure to cover both sides. This method is particularly effective for fabric shades.

Getting Rid of Stains

If you notice any stains or spots on your fabric shades, it’s important to address them promptly. Use a mild detergent mixed with water and dab the stained area with a cloth or sponge. Blot the area with a dry cloth to remove excess moisture.
