4 Tips for Your Next Summer BBQ
With summer in full swing and Fourth of July fast approaching, we’ve had tips for summer BBQ’s on the mind. Being the quintessential summertime activity, today on Made in the Shade we are bringing you some hacks to bring your summer gathering to the next level.
1. GET CRAFTY AND USE WHAT YOU HAVE FOR SERVEWARE
Parties can get pricey with specialized serveware but because barbecues have a fun and casual vibe, try using items you already have to craft the perfect buffet. We are loving this three-tiered galvanized dish for watermelon and you could easily DIY it with some pie pans and a paper towel holder (bonus points for spray-painting to match your theme). An even easier idea: repurpose your wheelbarrow as a cooler for iced beverages. Clean it out and spruce it up with a quick coat of spray-paint for this high-capacity/low-maintenance serving option.
2. TRY OPTING FOR A SERVE-YOURSELF BAR RATHER THAN A PREPARED ITEM
Not only does this take some of the burden off of you as a host and let you enjoy more of the party but it can be a fun activity for guests. The ideas are endless, but we are particularly smitten with these rootbeer float and smores bars. Nothing says summer like floats and smores!
3. LABEL DISHES FOR A STRESS-FREE BUFFET
Let your guests know what is offered with fun labels and customize to fit your theme. This is also a great way to identify dishes for those with dietary restrictions. Put your own spin on tent cards, flags on skewers, labeled containers, or even names sketched out on butcher paper for a more rustic look.
4. DIY INEXPENSIVE PARTY DECORATIONS WITH PLEATED PAPER
Paper rosettes are so easy to make and will make a big statement in your party decor. Spray paint one of our Original Light Filtering Pleated Paper shades in White to match your theme, trim to the desired radius and fan open. You can even use smaller segments to create a banner like the one below. Trim cut outs along the pleats for an added pattern.
A fun and festive barbecue is just a few DIY’s away so give it a go this season! Try out these tips at your next party and tag us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram so we can share your posts. We’d love to see what you do with these summertime ideas!
