5 Tips For Moving Into A New Home

Moving into a new home is stressful. There is so much that goes into it – from finding a home within your budget and that meets your wants and needs, packing, and then actually moving into it and decorating. The entire process can take weeks or months depending on your schedule. To help take some of the stress off of your shoulders, we have put together 5 tips for moving into a new home.

1. PAINT AND RENOVATE BEFORE MOVING IN

After purchasing your home, you will want to make it yours! Figure out if there are any renovations or painting you want done before moving in. It is a lot easier to do these things before living in the home.

Original Paper Shades are perfect to use while renovating and painting. They give privacy, you can decide the amount of light you want in, they are cost effective, and because they are paper, you do not have to worry about them being ruined during the process. The shades will make the home feel more like a home before you have even moved in.

2. DEEP CLEAN BEFORE MOVING IN

Along with renovations and painting, deep cleaning is also much easier when you are not living in the home yet. A big open space where you can get to every corner without furniture and unopened boxes everywhere. That way, when you move all of your stuff in, you will be moving into a nice clean house. Plus you get to enjoy your new home right away, since you will not have to clean as much and you can focus on unpacking.

3. MAINTAIN AN EMERGENCY FUND

You have established your budget and purchased your home. Now, it’s time to plan ahead for the future. Being a homeowner comes with huge responsibilities. There really is no one else who is responsible for anything that happens or goes wrong besides you. Setting money aside for an emergency fund and adding to it when you can is a must.

Before you moved in, there was likely  a home inspection done that would point out any issues that needed to be fixed beforehand; as well as, maybe noting some things down the road that would need replacing (i.e. a roof, appliances, flooring, windows, etc.). While you might be saving for those anticipated things, you never know when an emergency might come up. Having a fund specifically for that is crucial.

4. CHANGE LOCKS/SET UP SECURITY

Feeling safe in your new living space takes time. Not only are you having to get used to a new neighborhood, but also your home. Changing the locks and making sure the home can be completely locked up will help give you some peace of mind.  Adding a security system is also helpful. Systems can monitor the home. You will begin to feel safer over time, it just will be an adjustment period.

5. STYLE YOUR HOME TO YOUR LIKING

Now for the fun part of owning a new home. You get to make it completely yours! Style your home any way you would like and truly make it a home – also, who does not like home decor shopping?! You may already have furniture and home decor, and that is great; but, if you do not, or just want to start fresh, you can pick out each individual item and truly make it yours.

For a great window covering option, Easy Lift Pleated or Cellular Shades are super easy to install with No Tools needed. No cords either, just lift and pull the rails down as you please; whether you want to let some sunlight in or keep it out completely. They are also budget-friendly while giving you a custom look, so you do not have to worry about breaking the bank to add a little style to your home.

There are a lot more things that go into buying a home – whether it be your first home or your fifth – but we hope these tips are a good start for you on your home buying journey! We are all about getting The Look You Want Without The Work.
